KAPOLEI LOFTS
Kapolei Lofts is a 499-unit Class A apartment project located on 17 acres in Kapolei, Oahu’s second city and fastest-growing region on Oahu. Located in the heart of Kapolei near major employment centers and transportation lines, the rental residence development includes one-, two-, and three bedroom units. The architectural design features 14 modern, three-story low-rise residential structures. The project also includes a 60,000 sf community park and walking path that connects the project to the neighboring area and regional parks.
An 8,000 sf clubhouse provides Class-A amenities such as a pool, 2,000 sf exercise room, spin room, fitness-on-demand, cyber café, clubhouse dining room, cabanas, pet spa, community wifi, and barbeque area for the residents. The project also features a renewable energy program that includes 2.7 megawatts of photovoltaic panels, electric vehicle charging stations, and other sustainably minded elements.
Renewable Energy
Alaka’i Development leverages the real estate experience to create renewable energy projects. These developments help offset the high cost of energy in Hawaii for both residents and the greater community, while also decreasing the state’s dependence on fossil fuels.
KAPOLEI SUSTAINABLE ENERGY PARK
From brownfield to “brightfield,” the Kapolei Sustainable Energy Park project transformed a former disposal site into a productive and sustainable solar energy park capable of providing 1.18 megawatts of clean, renewable energy for the Aloha State. Power generated is purchased by the Hawaiian Electric Company for use throughout its customer grid.
The project produces enough electricity to power as many as 250 homes with clean, solar energy. Over the next 20 years, it will reduce Hawaii’s dependence on oil by more than 55,000 barrels—eliminating more than 24,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions in the process.
PEARL CITY PENINSULA PHOTOVOLTAIC SOLAR FARM
To provide clean, renewable energy for military families, the Alaka’i Development leaders designed, financed and developed the Pearl City Peninsula Photovoltaic Solar Farm. The project houses more than 4,300 solar photovoltaic panels and provides 1.23 megawatts of clean power.
WEST OAHU SOLAR FARMS
In recent years, the leaders at Alaka’i Development created four utility-scale solar farms in West Oahu. With a combined size of 2.23 MW, these large solar farms use fallow land to provide green jobs and clean renewable power to the residents of Oahu.
Military Housing
In a public private venture with the Department of the Navy we developed and managed 7,000 military family homes in 35 neighborhoods in the state of Hawaii. Our neighborhoods feature well-equipped military family homes scaled and outfitted for today’s busy military families. These energy-efficient homes include attractive architecture, front porches, backyards and quality materials in addition to an array of neighborhood amenities including playgrounds, fitness trails and community centers.
Sustainable development and renewable energy sources are a priority in its many neighborhoods on Oahu and Kauai. These include:
- Numerous Gold and Platinum LEED-certified homes and LEED ND neighborhoods
- 14 megawatts of rooftop solar photovoltaic systems on homes and community centers throughout the neighborhoods
- A growing number of Net Zero Energy Homes
- Solar thermal hot water systems on every new home
